Holloway Roofing Comment 1:
For anyone needing a new roof (shingles), I would caution you to read on-line reviews of local companies you may be considering.
I had a signed contract with Holloway Roofing and was told their supplier would be delivering roof materials on Monday, several weeks ago.
We stayed home but no one showed up or called. I sent an e-mail advising Mark Leitheiser, Holloway, of the no show.
I received a response saying generally that he had little or no control of his contract delivery and, considering the problems with COVID, I should understand.  I responded, “I would think/hope someone would have paid us a courtesy call advising materials wouldn’t be delivered.
The response I received from Mr. Leitheiser was, “I am not going to do this one. We are not a good customer/company fit. There are incredible disruptions in the construction industry with material right now. I am cancelling this job.”
I decided to go with Destin Roofing. Much more professional and customer oriented. They have 40 plus years in roofing experience versus Holloway’s 15 years (per their site). Many of Destin Roofing workers have been with them for 20 plus years. Not sure of experience level of Holloway’s roofers.
Destin Roofing is more expensive but you get who and what you pay for.

Holloway Roofing Comment 2:

I also had a poor experience with Holloway Roofing. Nearly had to go to court over it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Housekeeping - Leida Wurst I wanted to take a minute to let you know about the experience I had with a cleaner on the list. Leida Wurst was cleaning our house and last week she went out of town, she sent two young girls to clean and I got them on video making lunch from food in my pantry when they were supposed to be working, unfortunately for them I was in my pool house and saw them on the camera and busted them. I called Leida she said “ they have been working for me for 6 months with no problems” then she quit. I would recommend not using her.

I also had a bad experience with Leida Wurst. I had a glass container (gallon pickle jar) I used to collect loose coins.  The pickle jar contained serveral hundred dollars worth of quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies - more than 15 years of coin collecting.  I rolled all the coins and put them in the jar.  Mysteriously, all the quarters, nickles and dimes disappeared and were replaced with penny rolls.  Leida denied replacing the coins, but she was the only person who had access to our home unattended. Leida and her team were sneaky and put some thought and effort into this.

As long as I maintain this contractor's list, Leida Wurst will not be on it.

Southern Tide Pools Not recommended by Swift Creek residents.
Northwest Pool and Spa I moved into SC  last year and immediately had problems with the pool.  I contacted Northwest Pool and Spa (1183 E. John Sim Parkway, 850-678-6900) after discovering their office was not open to the public.  I chose them because they were just down the road in Niceville.  After two weeks and leaving three voicemails, someone finally called me back.  Within a couple days I had a pool service repairman call and arrange for a repair.  They charged me $150 for a $50 part and another $125 for the service (if I'd known the problem, I would have just done it myself).

The week of Thanksgiving last year I discovered our pool heater no longer worked.  I called NW Pool and Spa again.  This time it took me three weeks and many voicemails for them to call me back.  His/her excuse was the holiday time off.  They told me they'd have someone contact me to look at the heater.  Two weeks went by and no contact.  I left more voicemails again, eventually got the same response - someone would contact me.  Approaching Christmas, I started reaching out to other places in the area.  The first week of January NW Pool and Spa finally sent someone out while I was at work.  The guy told my wife that the pool heater was really old and should probably be replaced, otherwise the fix would be a couple hundred dollars.  He offered no cost estimate on the services nor any recommendations.  I never heard back from him or the company, they clearly didn't want to do the job.  (The 18 year old heater couldn't be fixed, it was completely rusted out and if turned on again, would lead to severe leaking or catch on fire, not sure what he was going to "fix").
Wilks Pools A co-worker turned me on to Wilks Pools, Inc (2785 Goodwin Ave, 850-682-9582) in Crestview.  Their store is closed and they can only be reached by phone.  I talked to the owner (Otis), he said he'd send someone down, asked for me to text him my info and the problem.  I did so, never got a response back from him.  Two weeks went by and I never heard from him.  Called him back - he said he got my original  text but due to the couple days of rain we had, he couldn't get anyone out.  He told me I was on the calendar, but couldn't tell me what day, said he'd contact me before sending someone down.  That was January, I still haven't heard from him (March).

BUYER BEWARE - John E. Funk, Et al.

My wife and I recently had services performed by John Funk All Pro Painting Inc., which turned out to be a horrific experience.  Each day when John E. Funk performed the services we requested, I was home from when he started until he finished. Each day I kept track of his hours and entered them into my calendar.

The job was a labor only, as I paid for “ALL” of the materials.

When I received the invoice from John Funk All Pro Painting Inc. I was astounded as the invoice was 183% higher than it should have been.  John E. Funk inflated his time (hours) and charged me for materials that I had purchased and picked up myself.  When I questioned John Funk regarding this, he sent me “numerous” threatening emails and faxes alleging what he would do if I did not pay him in full.

Stay away from this individual and his related companies.
